Norwegian Watches — An Independent Point of View | BÛTÓN
Some watch houses inherit their history. BÛTÓN is building its own. An independent Norwegian watch brand founded on the Jæren coast, BÛTÓN brings a personal approach to watch design, with automatic timepieces inspired by the changing character of Norway's western shoreline.
A Norwegian watch house, from the beginning
BÛTÓN was founded in 2024 by Marcus Bu Helland in Klepp, Norway. What began with a young founder's fascination for watch design became a distinct independent watch house. Its identity is rooted in the place where it started: the North Sea, the open horizons of Jæren and the blue tones that have become the signature of the House.

Norwegian automatic watches: the HELLUTINI collection
The HELLUTINI collection is the opening chapter of BÛTÓN. Its watches are designed in Norway, made to order and offered with automatic movements. Selected references offer 36 mm and 40 mm configurations, with personalisation available on selected variants. The full collection comprises ten expressions, each with its own colour and atmosphere.

The blue signature
HELLUTINI UNDA draws on the depth and movement of Norway's coastal waters. HELLUTINI UNDA “SOL” pairs that blue with a warmer, sunlit expression.
Other expressions of the coast
ALBA evokes first light, while NOIR approaches the darker hours. AURUM brings warmth; DUSK captures the transition into evening. SLATE, CREST, FROST and TERRA each explore another character of the Norwegian coastline. Together, they present ten references within one collection, rather than unrelated designs.
What does a Norwegian watch brand mean?
Norwegian watchmaking is not one single style. A brand may be Norwegian by its founders, headquarters, creative direction or design, without claiming that every component is manufactured in Norway. For BÛTÓN, the distinction is straightforward: it is an independent brand founded in Norway, its watches are designed in Norway, and its timepieces are made to order. We do not describe HELLUTINI as entirely manufactured in Norway.
The design choices are deliberately personal: proportion, the interplay of light and colour, and the character a watch acquires when worn. For the House, that is more meaningful than borrowing an invented history.
